Family Engagement in 3-D Paper Sculpture

In conjunction with the opening of the sculpture "Dream House" exhibition I gave a Family Engagement in 3D paper sculpture. Revisiting this material with my students' siblings and parents was a joyous event. My students were able to share their previous knowledge with their families and parents were able to spend time with their children in an activity that was both instructional and meaningful. These shared family art making events can be a lot of fun too. Several of my students acted as docents in the exhibition part of the space and set the stage nicely along side the sculpture workshop where groups of families explored paper to create 3D designs. Over 70 people attended and made as many art pieces, each one a different exploration in design, elaboration and palette. These images say it all!
