Dream House Collage Exhibition

"Dream House" Collage Exhibition, School Lobby
The school's lobby, main hallway and admissions office was used to showcase all the collages that were done in the residency. Each student's work was represented with it's title while each section in the exhibition had some descriptive text detailing for the viewer what the artists had done and what they had learned.
All classes toured the exhibition spaces in small groups with either myself
or their classroom teacher with sketch books and pencils. Students were given the time to view each section of the exhibition, choose artworks to sketch and write short descriptive sentences about what they had seen. Later we all gathered as a whole group to talk about what they had seen, sketched and had written in their sketchbooks.
This residency provided students with creating, responding, connecting and presenting standards advocated by the National Coalition for Core Arts
Students learned to experiment with numerous materials and tools to explore various interests in their art work. They were able to categorize their art work based on expressive qualities, create works that were meaningful to them, and present their work based on the theme "My Dream House."
